Global is local: New video highlights MSc Global Health students on practicum in Ontario
The Master of Science in Global Health program requires students to complete a field practicum to gain real-world experience working at a public or private organization internationally or locally.
This fieldwork facilitates an understanding of the many facets of global health and provides students with hands-on experience within organizations that put into practice the theory, concepts, and methods taught in the Master’s program.
This video features three students who completed local practicums: Shivani Shah at SickKids in Toronto, Elmira Amirazodi at North Hamilton Community Health Centre (NHCH) in Hamilton, and Mariyam Lightwala at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto.
“The practicum experience is an important part of the program because it prepares students for what’s next – and many of them go on to practice global health in local communities right here in Canada,” says Andrea Baumann, director of the Global Health program.
