Global Health Office Explores Further Partnerships with Japan
Yesterday, the Global Health Office welcomed two faculty members from the School of Nursing at Kitasato University, Japan.
Drs. Mika Tanaka and Noriko Nagao visited campus to explore a potential partnership regarding student mobility opportunities with McMaster. Specifically, Kitasato is interested in sending undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty, for a 2 or 3-week institute in the summer of 2018. Plans are currently underway.
Discussions focused on the Canadian health care system, particularly advanced nursing practice in Canada, and visitors met with Dr. Andrea Baumann, Associate Vice-President, Global Health and director of the MSc Global Health program, and Dr. Ruth Lee, Associate Clinical Professor of the School of Nursing. The professors also received a tour of the Centre for Simulation Based Learning and the Children’s Hospital.
“The Global Health Office continues to build strong ties with institutions in Japan, and we are excited about future opportunities,” says Baumann. The cultural and learning exchange follows successful visits from Niigata, University, Niigata Seiryo University, Tokyo University of Information Sciences, and Bunkyo Gakuin University, which have taken place in the last year.
