Bridging Different Worlds, Day 10: Third Field Visit, Alumni Meeting, and Life at Manipal
On the morning of April 26th, students from Manipal, Maastricht and McMaster University gathered in front of the Interact building to leave for their third community visit.
Group 12—of Cluster 4 Reproductive and Child health—arrived at the Badagabettu Anganwadi. The students and their faculty advisor entered a room filled with colourful walls of pictures, letters and numbers. This decorum was intentional, and was used to stimulate ob- servational learning in children.
The cheerful interior of the anganwadi was matched by the cheerful children inside. They sat in a row against the wall waiting for their turn to be weighed. To obtain the most accurate measurement, children would put on a harness that would be hung from a ceiling scale—this would prevent them from shifting their weight.
